SCAM - BEWARE!!

Hi all, just thought I should share this with you - Nearly stupidly caught out by a scam involving Nigerians....
My car is for sale (if anyone is interest for £1400 on Autotrader) & i received an email claiming to be a gentleman from Ireland & wanted to buy my car as he wanted a coupe. He was prepared to pay asking price plus and extra £200 to remove the ad from the website. He would then send me a bank draft for the amount, plus an extra payment to pass on to the shipping company - all sounds too good to be true, alarm bell rang when I received a 2nd email from another interested party stating the same story. I calles Autotrader & they said it was a scam & that the money would arrive via Western Union transfer & then it mysteriously dissapears without trace once you have handed over you cherished car....
This was confirmed by my mate last night who happens to be a policeman.
So anyone else selling, beware.

Needs a good loving home as 2nd baby is nearly here & will not
get all the attention it deserves !
Please let me know, or do I have to just leave it to Autotrader and the Nigerians !!!!!

Alot more secure... Any deal is too good to be true using western union

I think if you put it on EBAY and Autotrader you'll be alright, just read some of the other adverts for people who are selling cars and a lot of them put caveats in the ads that are directed at schemy people.
Or you could use an internet broker, they take a comission but are pretty good at selling and doing the dirty work you basically just end up with cash - a bit like selling your house.

Dont sell your car through an auction, people expect to pay less.

Buy cars on Ebay, sell them on Autotrader.

There is usually a big price difference.

Regarding the scam, surely nobody would part with the car untill thay had withdrawn the money?

Here is an example of the emails I am receiving.....

HI Dear Seller,
ROES WILLIAMS SMITH I saw your( 1993 AUDI COUPE 2.0 16V 3dr Coupe )posted for sale,Am in trested about the car that you wont to sell,but then I will like to know the present condition of the car including any recent pictures of interior,rear and engine, please if you are interested for me to buy the car from you in a good condition you can mail me bark so we can control the business dawn for the amount of the fix price for your car but i will not be able to come an see the car or test drive in uk because i stay in norway with my family,But its likely my husband come to uk next week for is job, If possible he comes to uk he will come an inspect the car if perfect for me to buy,Will be wathin for response.
