    Hi guys,

I have a 2001 Passat TDi SE and the back passenger footwell is very damp.

Are there any common problems for this? I have read that the passenger footwells can become wet in the front of the car, but what about the back?

Anyone any ideas before i go see my VW dealer....

    Thanks.

saw it on a 2003 Passat at a VW dealer. I think it may be due to the common blocked drain hole problem below the battery or behind it forget which.
    One German, Two Italian.
    It's a Mercedes Benzzzz though

Looks like the old problem discussed in many places on VWAF and concerns removal of the whole compartment containing the Cabin/Pollen filter and re-sealing.

I have just bought a Passat SE 110 1.9TDi. I have put into the VW dealer for a thorough going over and I have asked them to look at the leak - they shouldnt try and repair it though as they will have to ask me first! Ive just looked at the weird biscuit thread which looks easy enough so I will try that when I get it back and let you know how I get on!

    cheers

Had water issue with my wife's Passat 05. Took it to dealer wich are just as clueless as in USA. After being fed up with no results I have found the problem fom AC drain pipe seal. Since it is still under waranty took it to dealer and told them what to do, LOL. I was a bit rude about it as well, and they have fixed it. Since that, had no problem with water.
I am not sure about a long term efect that water may have on the cars electronics under the drivers seat, but I do have problem with radio going haywire sometimes and car jerks when idle. in traffic jam or when changing gears while praking. (AUTOMATIC TRANY)
Dealer can't find problem with the issues and VW UK has been following the problems as well.
I am like a pest that won't go away to them until is fixed and I am happy. Will see where that goes.
My other car is Peugeot 307, it has minor issues but nothing like Passat.
In the USA I have always had Toyota for trucks and Honda for cars, Honda had a strict service gudielines, where Toyota was abused to the MAX and kept going......makes you wonder, does it?
Next car Accord and Hilux for me.

    Hope this helps
