  1. Central locking problem following discharged battery

Hi, just days after getting my 2003 Passat I drained the battery by leaving the interior light on - clever! But whilst trying to start it with a flat battery, the central locking went a bit haywire with all doors locking and unlocking about 5 times in a row.

Since then, the reomte control has only unlocked the drivers door, and not all others (previously it did this when I pressed it twice). The central locking still works if I use the key in the door or use the internal button by the handrest.

Have I accidentally changed a setting or is the central locking faulty? The owners manual talks about a setting that sounds similar. It says refer to your dealer. I did and they didn't know what I was talking about!

    Any help grately appreciated!

It always happens due to cheap components. Disconnect the battery for a few seconds to rest the CCM, and reconnect it without rattling the clamp on and off the battery terminal.

Once the battery is back to full charge everything will return to normal. I had exactly the same experience when my battery would not hold its charge.

I found that I could open the drivers door but the rest would stay locked. When I tried to start the engine the door lock blobs danced up and down.

I eventually called the AA when the battery was charged everything worked well and the next day I replaced the battery.

Many thanks Snapdragon and MrG, I have just disconnected the now charged battery, left it a short time and reconnected it, and the central locking is all back working again. I'm really grateful as I thought that was going to cost me!
