Well, I was spoilt as a child when it comes to guitarists. My first ever concert was Chris Rea's Road to Hell tour at the NEC and i've been a strugling amatuer guitarist myself ever since! It's still nice to hear songs about everyday stuff though. Some of the 60's songs get far to philosophical sometimes.

Hi jp_paul, Here is " Road to Hell " by the philosophical man himself. I don't think anyone is a struggling amateur guitarist, as playing it well and stamping yourself on the way you play is more important. "Jim Low", see post No 4, is a person who loves what he plays and visits every place and stays there a while, and then writes a song. Good Luck.
