    Default Timing Belt Question for Audi A6 Avant – 05-04-2008,04:57 PM
    Hi to all

    Great forum, glad I found it! I bought a metallic blue 1996 Audi A6 Avant 2.6SE yesterday with 145k miles - great condition 2 prev owners with full-ish history for £400. It drives superbly well and I'm really pleased with it.

    One question - the car had timing belt changed at 85k - which seems a long interval - can anyone tell me what the recommended interval is please?

    had a passat in the past and VW changed their advice downwards from 60k to more like 30k.

    Any info greatly appreciated.

    I would say it is due a timing belt, water pump and various tensioner change right now, as a general rule the interval should be 60k or 4 years, whichever comes first.
