HI I'm new to this forum and hope someone can help me. I have 1992 RS6 avant which has lately lost all its power and is smoking. I had it checked out from a local garage who have said that i need to change both the turbochargers.

    1. He has stated that he can do this at 2500 pounds fitted ?
Is this a good price and does anyone know where i can pick one up cheap
    and quick ?

    2. He also said that he may need to change some part of the ECU as that was what probably caused the Turbo's to go in the first place, Is that true, and what would this cost ?

    Please Help

I would get a second opinion if I were you.

How many miles has it done, and when was it first registered.

    Part of the ECU? eh?

I doubt if you could get a 'cheap and quick' RS6 turbo unit anywhere.

It is the date and twin turbo bit that has me confused, the bi-turbo 4B RS6 was launched in 2003.

Fit quality replacement turbos, they are £1200 each genuine. To be honest, I struggle to understand someone who runs such a car and won't spend the money to repair it properly. This is what worries me about these high performance cars (450PS in this case) as they age; people buy them and then won't/can't look after them. What are you going to do when it needs new front discs at £200 each, even for the plain versions and £300 for the drilled versions plus £245 for a set of pads? The rear discs are even more expensive!
