I have a mk3 golf diesel non turbo. When I got the car the glow plug light didnt work so I removed the clocks and fitted a new bulb. Now when I start the car from cold the light works as it should until the engine is started, it then flashes for a couple of minutes. It stops flashing at the same time as the engine revs pick up a bit. The car has got a different engine in it as the one it came with was Knackered, I didnt change the fuel pump of the old engine I just ran an ingnition live to the solenoid. Do these golfs have some kind of cold start/choke on them the it could be related to. Any help or info would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.

That indicates that a fault code is stored. You need to get a fault code scan carried out on the diesel pump electronics control unit, address 41.

Thanks for the quick response. My mate has got a lead and software on his laptop that might be able to sort it.

    Cheers.
