I have had water in the footwell of the rear sea on the drivers side. I went to take out the battery and couldn't get it out. Its a passat 1.9 tdi 2001. I thought I would be able to lift it straight out, but there is no room. Any suggestions?

The trim at the bottom of the windscreen will need removing toghether with the wiper arms. That will give you the necessary clearance to get the battery of. Older 96-99 audis had a split trim surround and only the passenger side needed removing. Be carefull as the trims are hard plastics and they snap easily when cold. Good luck. I would check the sunroof drains as when the drains on the bulkhead are blocked, only the front footwels get wet ! If the car has no sunroof, check the door seals by pouring a bucket of watter while someone is inside checking for leaks !
