Thanx to all of you ive had a chat with, had the passat 3years, and what a great car it was, the only little niggle it had was the rumbling exhaust, which I could have sorted, the car never ever let me down even when I drove it through 15 inches of water in the summer floods "had no choice". other cars were falling by the way side, but the passat just carried on, then after that it had a tour of duty around cornwall for 2 weeks went up cadgwith hill loads of times with full load the 130 did not even break into a sweat, and that is a good 1 in 3. everything that was thrown at the passat it dealt with at ease.

But it was time to change, hope the A4 is as robust and reliable.

Good luck fella, I assume you have gone for a B6 A4?

Was just out of my price range when I got the Passat and I'd already had 2 B5 shape ones and they didn't do a Sport TDi on that shape!
