Changing Stereo from Audi Concert...

This maybe a daft question, but has anyone had any experience of changing the Audi Concert Stereo? It does a fine job, but I have been looking at the price of sticking in decent iPod support as well as still driving the CD autochanger as iPods are pants at reproduction of classical music, and for an an equivalent amount of dosh, a decent Alpine unit could go in!

I know I will need to stick spacers in as the Audi unit is wider than normal, but other than that, should a decent installer be able to sort it - I have no intention of doing this myself. The Alpine unit I have in mind communicates with the information unit in the dash in my 2001 A6, and apparently also talks to the autochanger. There is even a USB in the back. Not to mention the fact that the amber light matches the dash scheme.

What are peoples thoughts? I have been looking hard at the various installation options available and to be honest this looks like the best one...

where are you? There's a chap in Glasgow who does some amazing in car set-ups. Everything from Lambo's to fiestas.

I don't see it being a problem. I used to have a real nice Alpine head unit in a previous car and it was pretty darn good.

Best to go see a specialist and demo some equipment.
