    Hi Darren

What size are your original tyres? If they are the 185/70/14 then the 235/40/18s will be too big. If they are 185/70/14s you will need to use 225/35/18 to keep the rolling radius the same. You will need an offset of about 35mm on the wheels to get them to sit right in the arches.
If you need any more advice or want a specific set of wheels pm me.
    I hope i have helped!

    John

    Hi Darren,
Just a word of advice, when replacing your wheels with 18s, get your suspensions bushes and engine mounts looked at, the 18s have resulted in mine being shot and have caused problems from engine issues to loose/rattling trim.
The 18s do look good, dont know how much difference you'll get between 18s and 17s, have heard the 17s dont cause anywhere near as many problems and still look pretty decent.
NB, not all golfs are the same so dont take it as gospel, just thought you might want to check!!!
