I currently have a 2000 115 TDI, and the person who had it before me has had some cheap pads fitted. I am going to get some new front discs and pads, but am also interested in putting some bigger ones on. I think the size of standard discs is 256mm, but there are some 280mm for other models (GTI i expect?).

Are the 280mm discs compatible for my car- it is currently on 15in wheels which may be a problem, but intend to get some new alloys soon. So basically, if I get some bigger wheels, will the 280mm discs go straight on, and how much will the callipers be which go with them?

    Thanks very much in advance!

    Will

    Bit rusty on this but....

The 115 had 280mm front discs with a FS3 caliper.

    130's, 150's, 1.8t's had 288mm discs with an FN3 caliper.

The upgrade you will need to swap the hubs as well as the calipers, discs, caliper brackets. An expensive upgrade.

You will never guess what...you are right! the 115 has 281mm discs to be precise. Thanks very much- i think I will give the bigger brakes a miss then- just upgrade the quality of discs and pads and I think I will be fine!

    Cheers buddy
