    Check your manual. It is very specific about not overfilling.

    Use Mobil 1. You cannot beat it. I Have had cars with 200k+ miles on them, without the slightest bit of engine wear. You get what you pay for, but at least it won't fail and cause your engine to seize costing you loads more.

    Even Mobil One is not good enough on the PD Engine. You must use a PD spec oil.

    Brief explanation;

    When developing the PD engine VAG realised that all currently available oils were not up to the job and would allow accelerated wear on the cab lobes for the unit injectors. With this known they commisioned the oil companies to produce an oil that would fit VAG's spec. If VAG could have got away with it, do you think they would have bothered with this. The answer is no, as it most likely cost them time and money in launching the PD unit.

    Mobil 1 comes in two (main) grades. 15W30 and 5W40 which is the motorsport one. Are you telling me that even the 5W40 is not up to the job? If so I'd better get a change quick!

    two easy to find oils i have found that are PD spec are Castrol Edge turbo diesel ( make sure you get the right one - it says on the front i think, if not on the back!) and also i see that Halfords now do one that is ok for PD engines. Proberly not quite as good but if money is tight, it's alot better than using a non 'PD' oil
