I've just acquired a 2007 A6 which is very nice but needs a bit of interior cleanup. The wood trim around the gear lever has some scratches and marks, but before I start work on them I'd like to know whether I'm dealing with real wood or plastic - does anyone know for sure?

Sorry I can't answer but I'm interested in what advice everyone has to offer. With mine it's scratches on the plastic trim set into the walnut. I'm thinking of just taking the hit and getting the dealer to replace it.
