NOT A VERY GOOD LAST THREAD, SORRY.
HOPE THIS IS A LITTLE BETTER.

I HAVE MANAGED TO GET INTO THE BOOT .HAVE TAKEN THE CENTRAL LOCKING PUMP OUT OF ITS FOAM AND IT KEEPS CLICKING WHEN YOU OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR, OR ANY DOOR COME TO THAT. CENTRAL LOCKING DOES NOT WORK , THERE IS NOT A SOUND FROM ANYTHING.APART FROM THE CLICKING, AND IT WILL ONLY STOP WHEN YOU PULL THE POWER LEAD OUT OF THE PUMP.

SOUNDS LIKE A RELAY NOT WORKING .

DOES THIS SOUND ABOUT RIGHT, OR AM I WAY OFF .

    ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE GOOD
    I HAVE A 1995 AUDI A4 1.8T SPORT. ( ALARM WITH REMOTE KEY )

    THANKS BILLY .

    Hi Bill

I had a similar problem when I bought my 1995 A4. I didn't have the clicking noise, it was just not turning the motor at all.

I stripped the pump down and found that the "T" shape rubber hose had split. I couldn't replace the hose, but I did manage to find a pump on ebay for £30 including shipping...

If yours is clicking, then it could be trying to spin the motor. Inside the pump there are 4 small carbon strips. The strips provide the pnumatics, as they are spun outwards under centrafugal force when the motor spins. It's possible that one of these carbon strips has fallen out, or become stuck. Maybe you could try stripping the pump down and seeing if there is anything broken or split inside?

Maybe you could also try keeping the pump attached electronically, but disconnect the pnumatic hose and checking if any air is being generated by the pump at all. Have you tried disconnecting the pump and blowing down the pipe (your lungs in place of the pump), to see if the locks open?

    Regards
    Lee

    Hi Lee

    Thanks For The Info .
Have Had The Pump Apart , All The Spinning Motor Parts Are Fine
All The Rubber Pipes Are Fine . Doors Lock And Unlock When You Blow Down The Pipe .
Have Put The Pump Back On The Car With Pipe Un Hooked, And Then Used The Key Manually To Un Lock The Doors. ( Nothing ), But If You Open The Door Alarm Goes Off And Pump Starts Clicking.

Clicking Sounds Like Its Coming From The Circuit Board On The Pump.

Think I Might Just Get New Pump . Or Get It Looked At.

    Thanks
    Billy.
