    Hi All
Sorry but yet another question over the alternator pulley clutch.I have a 1998 1.8t 20 valve estate .When the engine is idling the auxillary belt tensioner is moving up and down by just a few milimeters at a time.Should there be any movement on this tensionor or is this a good indication of problems with the altenator clutch. There does not seem to be any vibration or undue noise at all.
Also later this year (around November ) it will be time for the cambelt change.Does anyone know how much it will cost to have replaced(must admit to not wanting to tackle it myself!!!) or of any good independant or recommended dealers around West London (I would travel further though on a good recommendation.
Many thanks for all the good information on this forum.

No clutch on that alternator, a normal pulley.
