Any one on here with a GT TSI 140 or 170.

    What are they like?
    What did you have before?
Why did you get the 140 and not the 170? or the 170 and not the 140?
    Would you get another?
    What options are a must?
What colour did you get and why?
Did you get the dealer to fit anything non-optional? (like a GTi steering wheel)
Did you get a decent discount from VW?
What would you change on it and why?

That's about it for now. Answers would be much appreciated. I'm thinking of getting one instead of keeping my A3. (which i'd like to sell)

just bought a 12month old 170BHP. Had a Mk 4 V5 before this and have to admit that the 170BHP is quicker off the mark. Bought the 170BHP because didn't want to loose the power but wanted something that is a bit better on fuel (V5 29mpg 1.4 GT 39mpg). Mine is black and I wanted a black one because I think when washed with silver alloys it looks the dogs dodahs. Only thing I miss from the V5 is heated seats.

Hi have a 140 GT TSI and love it loads of power there should you decide to use it. Got the 140 because the wife is learning to drive and thought 170 would be too much. Got the Red becaue the black front bumper looks great on it.

    The red does look good.

Test drove a 140 yesterday, low revs and the supercharger sound GREAT, then the noise gets all technical and turboey, which is also quite cool.

You forget you're in a 1.4 almost immediately.

    What did I think?

I thought that I would have to have the 170 as the 140 although similar 0-60 to mine felt a lot slower once you got going.

This brings me onto my second gripe. The fuel economy, it was woefully lower than the 29mpg urban figure that VW say it will achieve. And this was whilst driving quite conservatively with the occasional blip. I achieved 25mpg over 30 miles.

The inside was great and quite different from my A3. The new GT's with their leather would make a massive difference.

The stereo did not sound as good. Maybe it was lacking in speakers, or maybe the acoustics were different.

So, i'm really not sure what i'm gonna do now especially if i thought the 140 was bad on it's mpg, the 170 will be worse.

    Time to think
