Not certain about the Beta, Kath, but the above comment on pressing the FM button was to turn off TP

OK, if the FM button does not work, try just selecting an AM band?

I have just found this forum and these posts - we have the same problem, inability to turn OFF the traffic announcements. Have just tried pressing FM button, but that doesn't do it. Going from AM back to FM the announcements are still there.
Has anyone had success with anything else? Has anyone had advice from VW themselves, perhaps?
    Still hoping!

I sold my Passat now, that Traffic announcement was so annoying .

Seriously Vw_Dulcie the above methods worked for me with the Gamma.

I think we have found a solution. Our radio is the Beta version and there are 2 FM channels. We are now using the 2nd channel which doesn't have the traffic announcement switched on.
Must remember never to turn on TA, because we haven't found an OFF switch

Come on guys - there must be a proper answer to this. We've got TP on both FM channels, none of the above advise clears it and selling the car is a bit of a cop-out!

There must be someone out there who knows how to clear this TP irritation.
