hope this car isnt too old for you guys..its new to me.
I have this 90 Golf Diesal that was given to me by original owner.it was stolen and found with the dash all removed,I put back together and nothing on dash works now, yet.car starts, signals work, head lights work,Radio, heater fan.No indicator lights in dash at all.nothing.

also the Alternator doesnt start charging till I touch a live wire to the top connection to get it to start charging,

so somewhere theres a lack of power coming from ignition.. all fuses are good, any idea guys?

don't know where the alternater feed comes from, but you could simply put a new wire in from the switched side of the ignition switch to the alternater. perhaps try putting a new earth from dash to chassis?
