02 Passat Xenon Headlights

Hi all,

I have a 02 passat tdi sport 130. One of the headlights has started acting up. When you turn the switch, it might not come on and if it does it will flicker and then stay on.

Sometimes the lights don't auto level when turned on first thing and the light doesn't seem to get to the same level of whiteness as the other one.

Anybody any advice on whats broken? Any idea of repair cost?

Sounds like the ballast or lamp capsule. You can get cheap D2S capsules on ebay and if the problem still exists, it's probably the ballast. You could alternatively swap left to right and vice-versa to see if the fault moves with the part. As for the auto-levelling, best to get the fault codes read.

By any chance, does anyone know what type of ballast i need for my xenon headlights?

apparently there are a heap of different types (a whole range of H numbers).

I've had all the capsules replaced and the drivers light is still problematic for turning on.

Can anybody tell me where to look for the correct ballast?
