Speed Symbol "V" For vehicles with a speed capability not exceeding 150 mph

    CAR: Audi Q7 3.0TDI
    PERFORMANCE: Max Speed 134mph

And this was done by a major national tyre chain...

...as they say - "it's not what you drive its how you drive"....

...but back tyres - I am guessing that Audi choose a tyre from a range of available tyres and the tyre they selected fits a range of cars. So - 110Y versus 109V may be a tyre choice in the range.

So - as a tyre dealer you would know what that range is? or should I just check with Audi?

Thanks for the file - very useful.

Another question for you: I had my tracking checked (usual complaint of edge wear on front tyres) first by Audi - all OK, second by tyre company when replacing my punctured rear - very much out. Why would this be? And do you have the official Audi figures for tracking etc?

I would also be interested in your opinion on tyre pressures - the petrol cap data tells me 35psi all round (275/45 VR20) but the handbook recommends setting the pressures nearer the max for full loading at all times!!

I have set mine to 39/40psi all round and the wear rate on the edges appears to be better - to be expected I am guessing since there is no less pressure on the edges - though the ride is a bit harder - any comment on tyre pressure?

sorry not got wheel alignment data but as regards your query on pressures too little pressure would cause wear to both edges and too high would cause wear in the centre of the tyre.

That was my theory - I think the guideline pressures are too low so I have set mine 5psi higher. However - it's still the outside edge that wears before any other area - so I guess that Audi have a setting or two wrong somewhere.

Let me know if you get the settings from Audi

the outer edge will always wear badly on most large vehicles with power steering due to the turning circle of the vehicle and lightness of the steering.

    Hi Sleach
Bought collected my 4.2TDi S Line last june, I think the had Eagles on them. After 6k miles, I noticed that the outer edge was wearing badly and the tyre in general was badly worn. I was quoted £249.00 inc. per tyre. They have been replaced F.O.C. by my local Audi dealer (who have been brilliant) by Continental Grosscontact 275/45/20. These are a little noisier but I am told by the dealer principal tha they last longer and are what Audi are now fitting to their new Q7 4.2. I have never heard of this particular tyre and would be interested in your views.

By the way, absolutely stunning car!!

    Regards
