I am posting this in the A6 section in addition to the A8 as I would like to increase possibility of feedback - hope you guts don't mind too much!!

I am considering a remap to my 2007 A8 3.0 TDi, and have looked at 3 potential companies: REVO, TOPHtechnik, and V-Tune. In the case of TOPH, they can provide either a tuning box or a remap, both with similar increase in performance (c+45bhp and +65Nm).
Has anyone any experience with the any of the above, and if so any feedback would be appreciated (or opinions if I am doing the right thing).

    Geoff

    Hi Geoff

I am sure members will be along to give their advice, but just to let you know, we are VAG tuning specialists and offer members the discounted price of £320 all in.

    This is for gains of +45 - 50bhp and +70 - 75NM of torque.

Figures dont mean alot until you have actually driven the car though. They key to good mapping is to ensure a strong torque throughout the rev range, with no tailing off and of course 100% reliability

If you have any questions, or would like to chat further, feel free to e-mail me at info@p-torque.co.uk or call the office on 01902 324584

    Cheers
    Will

Don't waste your money on a powerbox.

Go for a good remap, you won't regret it for a minute afterwards.

    1. a tuning company that claims a powerbox on that car will give you 45bhp is outright lying to you.

2.Revo has some "issues" with their trial tunings of the 1.8 turbo engines, where after the trial your car is downtuned, a kind of incentive to purchase their tuning because you car sucks afterwards. Would you buy from them?

3.Vtune... would that be the same company as tunefood?

    Interesting comments Gunnar.

Unfortanately too many cowboys are popping up offering re-map with no knowledge. They basically buy in tuned data as cheap as possible, which leads to engine/turbo damage, and even cars not starting due to incorrect software being used or incorrect checksumms.

    Use a recommended ECU tuner.

We can offer 100% safe, tested software with a vast knowledge of what we are doing and how we are doing it.

I to am a tuner (AND I"M NOT PUNTING FOR WORK) There are plenty of us out there. It all depends on where you are in the country for a start.
There are plenty of MOBILE tuners like myself who can help you just as much as the big companies can. And it will generally be cheaper option for you as we need the work more to survive.

I'm also looking into getting my 3.0TDI chipped. I've heard chipping can actually decrease the fuel consumtion too - is this realistic and if so by how much?

I'd prefer to get it done somewhere that has a 4 wheel rolling road so the car can be checked and monitored on site. I've previously had cars tuned by AmD but I undertand their tuners have since moved on.

I got the number for VTune it's 08000 435997 - my fuel economy has increased on my caddy by 2 mpg and the 535d by 3 mpg - if you use the power a LOT it will decrease though!
