I am having trouble with my speed sensor and trying to resolve it (as it hapens when it rains which is all the time now) I saw that my A4 1996 Quattro has not the plastic cover under the engine. Is this standard in 96 Quattros?

Cheap skate..... S/H Cars are always sold as seen, if you didn't notice it when you bought it then tough. I can just imagine the look of delight on the guys face when you come knocking on his door...

    That's a bit harsh!

If he bought it from a trader, then the trader might offer to replace it as a good will gesture to keep his customer happy. If he won't replace it, then don't buy another car from him.
