I would like to replace the alarm siren on my 97 B5, as it currently sounds like a 'startled goose'.

After having a brief look, it seems to be a simple 12v car disc horn?

Does anyone know what amps this thing is working on, or know of a suitable high pitched 'chirp' or 'bleep' alternative?

Had another look, and it is just a 'horn' with 2 wires going to it, mounted above the multichanger, behind the passenger boot wall trim.

No battery backup, nothing. Maybe it has an older type, under rear bench controller?

As i have a massive pile of stripped out alarm systems in the garage, cobra, laserline, clifford, viper etc, i tried some of the sirens.

No deal, the power supplied for the 'parp' on locking is too feeble to drive even the piezo sirens, will have to dig out the multimeter.

I think that i will have to use the alarm 'horn' wires to trip a relay inorder to power-up a more powerful 12V siren.
