Ok so I'm new to VW but I heard loads of stories about their dealerships being next to useless when concerning after sales care. I've also heard stories saying that Audi offer much better after sales care ie servicing and problem solving. What are your views on this?

i spent over 26k in gilders, rotherham and its been a constant battle to get thing i even requested when ordering the car. will never use them again and to be honest i dont think its just that dealer, they all seem the same as if been to around 6 dealers in verious parts of england and have recieved the same level service, or should i say lack of

my dad has an audi A8 and they are imense when you the what vw dealers are like, audi are so much better in every aspect of the service they provide.

That's what I heard on the grapevine as well. Are they more expensive than VW for servicing/repairs? I'm sorry about the trivial questions but all the other cars I have had over the last 20years have been Peugeot and they have always been wonderful overall. I live in Stoke/Stafford region at the moment, any ideas who will be the best to carry out any work required?

Skoda dealers give the best cutomer service and the cars are better built, Seat are the worst all round, VW next and Audi second.

Agreed that Skoda make a great car, although the styling is still some what off the mark in my view. Their servicing (in my view) is average from what a friend tells me (Skoda VRS), and not particularly cheap either. He has also had build problems, creaks on panels, instrument panel had to be replaced, windscreen wet on inside etc; however it does perform and handle well, especially for the money. However my wife didn't want a Skoda (image issues!) so I was left with VW. I understand that there have been issues with build quality, but the car was three years old when we bought it, so I would think that any problems should have been sorted by the previous owner.

i recently bought my Golf from Lindvale in Chelmsford and they were really helpful during the sales stage, quick and accurate with everything. Concerning after sales/service, i have been dealing with Harper and Hebson in Carlisle who have been really helpful. Just had my first 10 000 mile service (now on long life service plan), and it was £130 which i didnt think was too bad, and been dealing with them about retro fitting cruise control, centre armrest, exhaust off of the GT 170 and GTi rear valance and i have no complaints so far! They have been really good to me!

I have heard good things about Harper and Hebson for many years. I used to sell the Armor Door Plates to them when that was big business and I have family in Low Hesket in between Penrith and Carlisle who have had their old Jetta (now back down with me with one of my customers) and their Polo worked on there when they haven’t been able to get down to me.

My 55 plate has been serviced at both Nottingham VW dealers and wasn't impressed was either - even had a stand up row with West Bridgford chief 'fitter'.

The third service however was recently undertaken at VW Derby and it was a total reversal of Nottingham.

Couldn't have been any more helpful and would strongly recommend them. Not all work completed on day of service due to a lack of parts (Non service parts), but this is not their fault so very happy.

When i bought my golf diesel 170 from a local volkswagen dealer in Newcastle they were great when i was handing over the cash, but when a couple of problems occurred with the car they were Pee poor.I even got a phone call from them six months later asking if i was still interested in buying a golf diesel 170 (What!!!!Already bought one from them, lack of communication.)
But i have found another Volkswagen dealer called PULMANS in Durham and find them really helpful. When your car is getting repaired they are always on the phone explaining what is going on(great communication.)You even get a free bacon bun and cup of tea when you take your car in
So if there is anyone form up north, i would recommend Pulmans, even if its just for the sarnie and tea!!!
