    Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can help with some problems we have been havng with our A4.

Since buying it a few months back we have noticed that the display that shows you how hot you have the heaters and how high you have them is forever more knocking off (the display). You have to press hard in a certain place to see what the temperature etc is at. We have also noticed that occasionally the dash will black out (hasn't done this for a while now) and most recently the heaters have stopped working, you have to kick a certain part on the passengers footwell for them to start working.

The car is a '96 (I think) and covered just over 180k.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing the problems? We have thought electrical problems but not sure what it could be tbh and dont fancy going through all of the electrics.

    Cheers

    Jow

The fan problem may be seperate to the climate display issue?

Try replacing or turning the fan motor brushes round, as the fan will stop working when they become worn. (a bang on the dash can make the motor start)

This article may also help with the heater display issue?

I have no doubt that the issues are separate

Thank you for the links, I shall be taking the car apart tomorrow and seeing if thats the problem, as for the other one, I think we can cope with the display not working properly lol, I am not soldering that! (well, depends how much it frustrates me )

If the display is still working it may just be the bulbs?

The display works, it just flickers quite often or wont work unless pushed quite firmly, which lead us to believe bad connection. We can live with it for now

    Cheers

I'm about to brave resoldering/replacing the climate control panel but my car has an aftermarket stereo fitted and so the screws in the above diagram are covered by a fascia adaptor...

Daft question, but how do you get those fascia adaptors out? Do they just clip in?
