Resetting SID with the adjuster buttons for trip recorder and clock
    – Switch off ignition.

    – Press the reset button for the trip recorder on the dash panel insert and at the same time switch on the ignition.
The display of trip recorder shows: “serviceOIL”.
    – Release the button.
    – Pull out clock adjuster knob in dash panel insert for approx. 2 seconds to reset “serviceOIL”.

Depending on manufacturer of dash panel insert the trip recorder display will either continue to show “serviceOIL” (Nippon Seiki) or it will display “- - -” (VDO).
    – Press the reset button for the trip recorder again to call up the next type of service.
    – Release the button.
The display of trip recorder shows: “serviceINSP”.

    – Pull out clock adjuster knob -1- in dash panel insert for approx. 2 seconds to reset “serviceINSP”.

Depending on manufacturer of dash panel insert the trip recorder display will either continue to show “serviceOIL” (Nippon Seiki) or it will display “- - -” (VDO).
    – Switch off ignition.

hi. i have the same problem but the display says "In 2". According to the manual "In 1" means inspection service and "In 2" means additional servicing work. I was thinking of taking the car into service to see what's wrong before resetting it
btw can it be reset using the same steps kenney? is there a way to make that disappear under normal conditions? i mean without a reset procedure. if you reset it does it mean that it will never appear again?
    thanx alot.
    cheers

on earlier cars, you can only reset inspections via PC, on later ones you can use routine listed above

    kenney...
can you plz write one more time the procedure but in a more detailed way... like what does "switch on the ignition" mean?
does it mean that i start the engine or just turn the key until all the indicator lights on the display turn on?
    sorry for the silly qs

Hi The above procedure is from late 1997 models and newer, earlier models you need diagnostic equipment,to reset the service interval
