IF you remap carefully you may get more torque however the traction control will need re mapping too!

'Chipping' is the same thing as 'remapping'.

Back in the day, the 'chips' were not flashable, so had to be removed and replaced with a 'remapped' version.

On most of our cars today, the mapping can be changed through the OBD port, or by flashing the ECU directly.

The 'tuning box' is the other alternative.

    No mate

A "remap" is often misunderstood, many places offer a reflash with a generic file not a remap, a remap is specific to the car and envolves ALOT of time and effort to do right, a remap can mean chip changes, live mapping or reflashing then testing (loads of times lol)

My old EDC15 simply needed two surface mount plcc32 sockets installed, some memory and an old eprom programmer.

Grab a few bits of software, and some examples of ori and tuned map's to give you a clue and you can start tinkering. (breaking your car, lol)

It is not simple, and even finding some of the maps is very difficult.

Your best bet is to talk to Paul at RS Tuning, I have over 25 years experience with racing motorcycles although they are different you get to know who the genuine intelligent professional people are very quickly.
Ask Paul anything your not sure about and he will give you a honest and accurate reply.

All I can say is talk to him and you will see what I mean, obviously I would recommend RS Tuning if you do go ahead.
If you do have it done post your results as I love to see what people think about it who have never had one done before.

Finally I have had many different boxes generic maps and also custom maps specific to your needs and vehicle, the best job was the custom remap, then I found RS Tuning all I can say is it's the best job I have ever had done and his prices are cheap as chips (pun intended) they even offer a full refund and return to standard if your not happy, no one can beat that!!!!!!
