In the next couple of weeks I shall be getting hold of a nice slow underpowered vw 1.6 Diesel lump to do an engine conversion on my 72 vw camper, question is what can be done in the way of tuning?

there are obviously 1.6TD, 1.9/TD/TDi engines, from what I have read you cant just bolt a Turbo onto the 1.6D its different, so question is why is it diffierent?

What about super charging? I have been doing a bit of reading on tinternet which indicates supercharging doesnt work to well on normal 4 stroke diesels but was quite common on 2 Stroke Diesels.

So question is what can I do to tune some more ponies out of it? Will it harm fuel economy at all? or can it be made to make it more efficient so its actually better on fuel?

Just after some ideas really looking at running it on chip oil soon too

First I need to get the engine in and running but obviously if theres anything i need to do before I fit it would be good!
