Hi - does anybody know how to carefully remove the wireing loom from the drivers side door to the main car body ? I think i have loose connection in it..but the only way I can see to get into the rubber is by cutting it ?

Have not had much luck finding the thread, it was probably on another forum, but this might help you.http://www.audiforums.com/m_64789/tm.htm

    and this http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/...0/fpart/1/vc/1

I still say you can release the rubber gaiter from the car side with some effort.

Yes you absolutly can. I did this to repair a broken wire in the loom. They always break there because of the continuous bending when opening and closing the door.

I was having trouble with the speaker and the electric windows cutting in and out.

Unfortunatley the repair only lasted a month or so and I had to admit defeat and replace the entire loom in the door - not that expensive £50 or so i think. Fitting is a little awkward but the new loom comes with all the fixing "poppers" and "cable ties" already on the wires in exacly the right place - so just plug and play!

Success ! I've managed to get to it this weekend and fix. The main electric cable was totally split and the casing from another wireing was showing. So what was happening was that the broken cable was shorting the stereo intermittantly and the door electrics were obviousley off as well !

It was trickey to fix especaillay as the point where it was broken was nearer to the door side..and then the there wasn't much slack to repair..

If it go's again I will replace the loom I think !

thanks to you all for you help..I was a very pleased man come saturday afternoon ! especially as it saved me a trip to the *******s !
