    ok guys got a megga problem,golf gt tdi 110 99 v reg,only had it a couple of weeks,under hard acceleration or crusing at moterway speeds it "goes" in to limp home mode,do have trouble starting on mornings aswell,took it to local vw specialist to check the computer it said the fuel pump,but the guy at the garage says hes not convinced and thinks its the turbo? hmmmmmm.my personal opinion before i took it was that it was getting starved of fuel,you can feel it "holding back" before it goes into "safe" mode,any thoughts would be appreciated,car has only 102 thou on clock and im surprised to be havin major issues like this

    if the diagnostics say its fuel pump why would it be the turbo

    i'd get a 2nd opinion

    no sorry he says hes deleted them all,says hes gonna check the "arm" on the turbo says they stick sometimes,if that doesent work says ill need a turbo! mmm 4-6 hundred pounds he says and 2 hundred for fitting

    Did they check the timing?

    If it is very retarded this could help to cause hard starting and limp mode(quantity adjuster cant compensate for very retarded static pump timing) ?

    If the pump works fine in lower gears, it is possibly not at fault? maybe maf or mechanical boost problem?

    It does sound like a sticky vnt mechanism. Clean the turbo, either on the car with a long run of at least 2hrs on motorway with ballast etc, chemically by squirting carbon remover in the hotside and jiggling the actuator for a while, or remove and clean internally.

    It will be apparent when it is checked by hand.

    I very much doubt that you need a new turbo. I am slightly synical from the amount of times dealers and mechanics want to replace the most expensive parts on the engine for no reason (although it is just dealer policy to replace a dirty turbo with a new unit)

    Could also be MAF, N75, control leak, all the usual suspects.

    As Crasher suggests the fault codes would be very usefull, the DTC's are most likely to reoccur.

    ok thanks to everyone for there help ill let you no how i go on,one last thing i bought the car from a garage,picked it up on 26 feb,no warrenty but it doesent say sold as seen on receipt,do you thing theres anything i could do legally?
