Help!, i've got a sweet sickly smell in my golf 03 TDi coming from the vents and I haven't got a clue how to get rid of it! Have tried cleaning it and even with 2 air fresheners its still there.
Any ideas as to what could be causing it? and how I can cure it?

Does it also smell as bad (or even worse) when you spray your windscreen?

Could be a build up of Bacteria in the aircon system.

I had mine cleaned to get rid of a smelly sock smell.

Hi is there a greasy film building up on the windscreen or does the inside of the car get steamed up? A sweet sickly smell can be caused by a leaking heater matrix. Hows the coolant level?

When I used to have an ovlov, the dealer would spray antibacterial spray into the heating/air con system at service time to eliminate smells caused by bacteria lurking.

Haven't tried this myself yet, but howabout obtaining some anti bacterial spray from somewhere and spraying that in whilst operating system on full blast.

Or, non of your neighbours reported their moggy missing have they

Lol...an apt name for the older cars in their range, especially those 300 series from the 80's that looked like jelly molds.
