Dash/Instrument Lights on 1.9 SDI 2002

Hi all,

The backlights for my dash (the ones that light up (blue) the speedo, clock, rev counter, heating controls and buttons when the headlights are turned on) stopped working recently.

I've checked the fuses inside the drivers door and the ones next to the battery and all are OK. I'm a little confused as to what the problem could be since if all the lights blew would a fuse not have not gone too? I'm suspecting wiring troubles.

Any ideas what the cause might be and how i go about trying to sort it out? Is it a case of removing the entire dash and checking the wires? If so I would probably take it to a mechanic, but wanted some advice or input first incase there is anything obvious i am missing.

could be bulb related, but from what I understand the dash display is a sealed unit, I don't think you can get to it to replace the bulb(s).
