Hi guys i have been offered a audi 80 for 300 quid it sounds bad allready and thats what i thought untill i viewed it. It looks like the sport mdel its black(but needs g3 and polishing as paint is so bad) with factory alloys, spoiler, abs, power steering, electic windows, leather steering wheel sporty seats and vdo gauges etc. Its had 1 owner from (he did sell to a lady but bought it straight back so two if your picky) and has service stamps up to 115k and its done 117k. its also a 1.6 which is good becuase i need cheap insurance till i can whack a bigger engine in the thing lol, THE ONLY BAD thing is that is has 1 months mot, and its blowingfrom the exhaust somehwere up front and knocks once when pulling away and stopping, what do you guys think. Bear inmind its 300 quid and iam now driving a knackered peugeot 106 1.1 (cus i smashed my vw golf gti1.8 16v) i will try and get pics soon

Sounds like engine or gearbox mountings could be causing the clunk, would also cause the exhaust to blow. I didn't know they did a 1.6 sport? I suppose the spec could be had with options though, so who knows?
I think the price is a little steep for a car which has bad paint and a very short MOT and no chance of passing. You might get it through cheaply with what you have described, but it could cost another £300 easily.

Yes, the engine has some similarities to the mk1 1.6, but the injection system has more in common with the mk3 gti. The multi point injection engine is 100hp - code ADA, there is a single point injection 1.6 which I would avoid - code ADM

Hi Kronc10 The clonk when pulling away and also when stopping could also be caused by worn out lower front suspension swivel bushes. This would allow the wishbone to move forwards and backwards giving metal to metal contact and hence a clonk. New bushes are about 14 pounds apiece, fitting extra. Audi bushes probably cost more.

Its deffo not the single point injection thank god, i did think the injection system looked different. Just out of interest is there any way of eaking power out of this engine or should i just wait till i can chuck a 1.8t lump in. I have seen cat back exhausts and panel filters for this engine is there ant chips i can purchase etc
