Hi, anyone else got the 2.7 model? What sort of fuel economy are you getting? I'm getting about 32mpg going to and from work but got nearly 42mpg the other day when we were on a longer journey. I'm getting about 500mpg on a tank I reckon but need to check this when I next fill up.

we have a 1.9 tdi 115 se which under normal driving averages 50mpg , 60mpg on level roads if you really try and if you thrash it about 40 mpg . Last week a copper crashed into the back of the car on his motor bike and so now we have a 2.0 litre s line from accident exchange and boy does it go , I scarred the hell out of my brother in law who drives an S3 ! But the fuel econmy is rubbish , Thrash it and it's in the twenties , normal driving averages 30's and if you really try yo can just get it into the low 40's Great fun with all the toys as well but can't wait to get our car back

Hi, thanks for the reply. I did have a 2.0 A4 petrol and that was worse than the 2.7 on fuel economy and it was boring to drive. That was why I went for the car really. I had a 2.0 S-Line when my other car was in for a service and as you say it was quick but the 2.7 is very quick! The C02 tax is cheaper as well. Hope you get your car back soon anyway. Have you got any pics?

    Hi,

I've got the 3.0 TDI .. I've owned since new, and just gone past the 16,000 miles mark .. average consumption since new is 42.5mpg according to the onboard computer.

If I am on a longer journey (to and from work is 12 miles each way) I am getting high fourties, low fifties .. depending on what sort of mood I am in

Trouble is, it is so tempting to overtake cars for the sheer fun of it when you have a nice powerful diesel

That is confusing me? A 3.0 getting way better fuel economy than a 2.7? Is yours a manual then? I looked at the stats for the 3.0 and 2.7.

    3.0:

    Engine Size2967 ccCylinders60-60 mph7.0 sPower Output201 bhpValves24Torque450 Nm 332 lb-ftTop Speed146 mph

    MPG36Insurance Group15Euro Emissions StandardIVCO2 Emissions206 g/kmRoad Tax BandF

    and the 2.7

    Engine Size2698 ccCylinders60-60 mph8.1 sPower Output177 bhpValves24Torque380 Nm 280 lb-ftTop Speed139 mph

    MPG41Insurance Group15Euro Emissions StandardIVCO2 Emissions179 g/kmRoad Tax BandE

So either the stats are wrong or your car is breaking every rule! lol

A bloke i work with has a Skoda Fabia vRS 1.9 TDI and that gets 53 mpg. So you are saying that a 3.0 A4 gets the same?

    Stats for Fabia:

    Engine Size1896 ccCylinders40-60 mph9.2 sPower Output130 bhpValves8Torque310 Nm 229 lb-ftTop Speed128 mph
    MPG53Insurance Group9Euro Emissions StandardIVCO2 Emissions140 g/kmRoad Tax BandC

I used to have a 2.0 petrol and that was not to good on fuel economy and also the tax was higher like yours in the F band which is strange. The 2.7 is in band E so a bit cheaper although they all went up today. Please explain yourself! lol

Mine is the 6 speed manual

Slightly old stats you have there as well - the engines from about 2006 onwards were revised to 230bhp... combined MPG is 37.7

I guess it is down to the style of driving, and whereabouts ... if I am in and around town I get low 30's ... I did a 100 mile trip today (mostly A roads, no motorways) and on the way there I got 46mpg, on the way back I got 41mpg (but I was hungry and wanted to get home so had a bit more fun)

Ah ok that would explain it. Out of these engines which is yours?

I think you must have the 3.0 TDi TDV S-line and as you say it is 229bhp and 37mpg. That stilll does not explain the 52mpg you reckon you can get? I cannot see how you can get this?

I've got a 180bhp 2.5 tdi b6 and generally get about 40mpg ave. (I do 40 miles each way to work with combination of city driving and single/double A roads. The first 20 mins of the journey are spent trying to get round/out of the city and the engine is only just up to temp up as i get to the 1st dual carriage way). Again it depends on what mood i'm in and what time of day. If i'm on way home at 3 in the morning I tend not to hang around and so it'll drop to 35/6mpg for that journey, if its normal times i'll just pootle along as the roads are always busy and get 42+ mpg. On long hauls to see the DOF's(doddery old f***ers) with the car loaded up and sat with cruise control on 80 maybe 90 where possible it'll be 46 ish mpg. During normal use when the fill up light pings on it normally shows Dist till empty as being 30-40 miles and i'll have already done around 550 miles at that stage .

Although the missus is driving it now whilst i'm out of the country for 2 months and only going round the city and she's complaing that its eating fuel. She does 3-4 miles each way to work 5 times a week and a trip to see her parents 20 miles a way once a week. So if your doing similar short journeys that'll be why your fuel economy is poor. Also you'll drink more/less depending how quick your actually getting up to speed.

Hi there. I have the 2.7 TDI S-Line which I purchased new in November. I've put 6000 miles on it now and I'm averaging just over 40MPG.
It's my first Audi (first new car in fact) and I have to say that both the missus and I absolutely love it! Comfortable, good fuel economy and FAST!

Yep that's the one ... the actual MPG stats are:

    Urban: 26.40MPG
    Extra Urban: 49.60MPG
    Combined: 37.70MPG

bearing in mind when I saw 50's on the computer I was sitting on the motorway so not far off the extra urban figure so sounds about right...
