Hello there I'm new to this so please be gentle! I have a 2001 passat TDI 100 (superchipped) For ages i have had a problem with water appearing as if by magic in the car. I just couldn't work it out until i read on Briskoda that Superbs have the same issue. I went to Vw in shrewsbury and they told me to simply clear the drain under the battery. I had this done but it did not solve the issue.

When i was working in London my wife told me that the floor of my car was soaking. I asked her to go to VW again (she's better at complaining than me) at first they said that "the computer said no" when asked if my car was due for a recall. After my wife told them she new there was a fault with the Passat, they said they would check another computer program and hey presto that computer said yes! within a week i had the issue resolved at no cost to me and the people at VW Shrewsbury were brilliant they changed the pollen filter and something else that escapes at the moment. Why are VW not telling people about this? has anyone else experienced this?

    Tom

Yes thousands and thousands. All due to either the Plemum chamber drains getting blocked and water appears in the front passenger foot well or the pollen filter seals fail and water appears in the rear passenger foot well just aster the rear heater vent. I fixed another one of these on Friday. Regards Peter

Thanks Peter. What i don't understand is why don't VW do a recall? as i have spoke to people who have had to rewire there whole car due to the constant water leaks! surely they could at least mail there customers to make them aware of potential problems to keep an eye out for? I don't think there is a week that goes by that they don't mail me about buying a new car from them!

That just reinforces the point. If there is a computer out there that says my car is due a recall why wasn't i informed? how many other people are due a recall and just don't know it? If there is anyone from VW out there plaese could you explain, because it's beyond me!

Hi, I have an issue that seems could be resolved here. I am an auto mechanic in The States. We have encountered several of these flooding issues with Passats, A-4s and Jettas. I would appreciate it if anyone could furnish me with the recall number used over by you so my customers can present it to the dealers over here. If you can send a copy of the recall, that would be the best. Thanks in advance, Vinnie
