We got a huge snow storm today... over 2 feet!! So i took the Audi out for the first time and was totally blown away! Not even in the same world as my old Saab!

Anyway, i when i pulled into the driveway i had to give it a little extra gas to get up the hill and the car started making a funny noise from the front.... It sounded like something was spinning, not linking up correctly and made a sort of grinding noise. Anyone encounter this before??

    Was it still driving ok??

Could be a build up of snow on the inside of the alloy?

its tough to say if it was driving ok because it happened just as i was getting into the garage... but there was no rattling from the pedals or the steering wheel.

I thought it might have something to do with a build up of snow... the gaps of the rims were filled with snow at all 4 corners but the noise was clearly from the front.

What you heard was probably the ESP engaging. If you're applying too much throttle on the snow the ESP will brake the spinning tyres. This may sound like a grinding noise, but you wont feel anything in the pedals or steering wheel. If it happens again, check if a yellow signal in the instrument panel is blinking.
