After reading this thread, I called my local Audi and they said that the notice for recall on the plenum chamber has been removed? i.e. so they basically didnt want to know about it and said that everything should be fine?! (it's a 53 B6 1.8T)

Is there any way I can find out if this has been done to my car or not? My car is still under warranty for another couple months, so last thing I want to do is cough up a few hundred notes at a later date.. when I can get it done now for freee!

    Thanks.

hi rick, this was 4 days ago when mine was done,so i doubt that the recall would have been removed since then, i would ring round a few other main dealers and ask them if they have it on their system, then you can use this info against your local dealer and even threaten them with a letter to uk HQ ! id try and get it sorted as i beleive it can wreak havoc with electrics and rust brake servos and the like. There probably is a way of checking yourself but i dont know enough about cars to help with that.good luck

i think if you give audi your email they are supposed to notify you of any re-calls that appear, but i wouldnt rely on this.just ring periodically, its what they get paid for!

I remember this used to happen to the old B5 passats when I worked in a VW dealers. I got an air line into my A4 a while back and blasted all the dead leaves and debris out from around the battery and the whole engine bay area as I assumed the B6s might suffer the same fault. I will call Audi dealers Monday to see if there is a recall.... Poor show Audi UK dont publish them more obviously or write to the registered keeper.

They won't do it to my A6 either, but it doesn't need it anyway. Mine was facelifted, and so the problem was supposedly fixed on the facelfited A6s. Mine is a 53 too. If they facelifted the A4, then it might be why, but I don't think they did.

From what I can gather the minor face lift to the A4s was around a 53 plate but didn't include much more than some paint on the lower rear valance and front lower spoiler. Unless they also decided to improve something behind the cosmetics.

I remember at VW they were doing clutch cover plate recalls on Passats in 2004/5! I wonder why Audi have left it this long!
