00 Passat estate 18.T

Hi just bought a passat but have noticed that only 3 quarters of the speedo light is illuminated (from 60 onwards) any one know how to repair this? and is this a common problem? tks in advance

First try tapping it with fingertips could be loose bulb connection if not its dash out time and bulb replacement

I've spoken to a VW dealer and they said that the speedo unit is a sealed unit and all of the clocks will need replacing! can anyone advise if this is true?
