Hi all....

I am perplexed at the amount of people who want to install armrests, when I want an alternative to mine... I own a 99 Octavia (not enough of us to get decent answers) which has the infamous center console + elevating armrest. I always use it fully up, 'cause when I don't, I have my arm in constant contact (which I don't really care for - a lot of city driving), and when I have to apply the e-brake, i have to do this really wierd position with my arm to get a grip.... well on to the thing

The bloody thing rattles when I go over slightly bumpy or eneven roads. It doesn't if i apply pressure (i.e. squeeze) to the pivot points.

Is there any quick fix without dismantling it? And even if I do, the thing's got the little plastic brackets which aren't quite adjustable for tightness! I could use it down then my arm would apply the needed pressure, but it's just uncomfortable for me (am 6'1" dunno if that's got anything to do with it)

I love my car, and it's only got 52K on it, so it's pretty much like new (my slight rear door rattles are going to be fixed at the shop)... any ideas, anyone? (except 4 earplugs) What do the ones without armrests have? How do I get one!?

sorry about going on!
