just wanted to see if anyone has had something similar.

basically i bought an Acer laptop just over a year ago, that has been a complete lemon. it keeps blue screening, apparently due to a built in webcam driver, but acts more like a hardware fault (ie re-positioning the screen causes the USB bing-bong disconnect-reconnect noise, but not every time)

i have had the laptop repaired for this fault during the warranty period, however the fault has not gone away, and seems to be gradually getting worse (suggesting hardware problems to me, but anyway...). it was ok for a week or so after being fixed.

now the laptop is out of warranty, should i be able to get the laptop fixed under warranty, arguing that the original fault (identified well within the warranty period) has never been fixed?

    thanks for any advice guys

Its always a tough one this, as its out of warranty, the answer is no... but as a jester of good will they may be able to help..

The problem you will have is that they will say it was fine following their testing, hence why it was returned to you.

Its always a tough one... A "nice" letter to them sometimes works as first contact.

just called them, and after the first pleb informed me that i would have to pay, the tech help person agreed that they would take the laptop back under the 3 month warranty given on the last "repair", under "re-repair" Ts & Cs.

small success i guess. lets hope they bloody fix it this time. its turning into a very expensive paperweight...
