gear problems

hi,

im having trouble selecting 2ng gear of my S3. when the revs are too high , it grinds into gear. a friend of mine reckons i have damaged the gear synchronis( whatever that is?).

my question is simply to find out if this is actually the problem and is it expensive to have repaired.

please excuse my ignorance as i know nothing about cars.

What year is the s3? Do you no if the clutch has been changed, does the biting point feel normal?? I had problems selecting some gears, i had the clutch changed now all is well.

it is a 2003 52 plate. i think its the original clutch although the master cylinder was changed 3 months ago.
the biting point of the clutch feels normal.
is the clutch expensive to replace?

Its the 200bhp s3 yeah? not the 225, will get back with a price in about 20min or so.

When the chassis number you have given is put in to the computer it is coming up as a 2001 model with the A.M.K 200bhp engine??

thats interesting, i've just double checked and thats the number on it.
do you think there could be a problem here?
it doesn't exactly fill me with confidence bout my car!
