    hi there ive put a disc axle on my 1.6 mk 2 off a GTI and i can't get the hand break to work there are new cables for the calpiers, and was wondering the metal sleves that the cables run throught as they go in to the car do they vary in length form the 1.6 to the GTi the other possibility is the capliers are knackered but the lever pulls on and releases properly the weeels just wont lock up any advise would be much appricated

    Which calipers do you have, there are two original types and two later versions as well that it could have. The two original types can be distinguished by their bleed nipple spanner size, 7-mm or 11-mm and the piston size casting ID in the middle of the housing, 36 or 38. There are different cable lengths and handbrake positions on the floor of the car which means that the cables have to be matched to car and caliper. Which year is the car?
