I have a Golf with a single cd player and a Bora with a 6 disc player both are mounted in the dash with one slot in them exept one takes 6 cd's and the others takes just 1. My question is can i change the single one to the same one that is in the Bora and if i can does anyone have any idea how much one of these units cost from the main dealer and is it easy to change them over ie can i do it myself

It's easy to changeover cd units, and yes, you can do it yourself, you can take your chance on ebay, I got one a few years back for £200 brand new on ebay, came from germany with a receipt from the vw factory shop.

if you aint got the keys go to your local vw dealer ask them, they give me the key things to do it in the car park, or get a phone topup card and cut 2 strips bout 4 mm and slide it into the hole`s just near the outside of the unit. sholud take bout 5 min for your first time.

i would guess they will be a straight swap over. my cd player bust so i got a alana from a seat and that slid straight in same connections everythin worked .

If bought new it will come with all the parts required to fit it including the keys required to remove the cd player, if buying used make sure you get the power lead and triangle shaped shelf,( its possible the shelf is already fitted since you have a single cd fitted ) and you can get the removal keys on ebay, halfords or any car audio shop
