Which make of tyres? (Touran SE 2.0 TDi 140ps DSG).

Hi- has anyone tried tyres other than the ones originally fitted on my 2004 Touran- namely 205 55 R16 Bridgestone Turanza er30? I ask only as the front set were worn to nothing after about 12,000 miles, which doesn't seem a lot, especially as I never corner hard or accelerate from standing hard. Most driving is off motorway. The back ones are original and same make on 15,000 and look good for another 15,000 or more, (but need replacement now as cracking). Any experiences gratefully received. Thanks.

I have a similar model but it was fitted with Continental tyres from new. The first set on the front did 17000 miles (second replaced at 36000) and the first set on the rear about 28000. However last month (49000 miles) I went looking for the same again for the rear only to find they are very difficult to get. I have now had Michelins fitted at the rear after a large bolt went through one tyre at 3mm tread.

I go to Protyre as they always seem to give me a good deal and excellent service. The Michelins seem fine and handling is the same. They seem quieter than the Continentals. I was warned off Bridgestones by other VW and Audi users.
