ok there was a bit of oil dribbled out of the pipe, what causes oil in the intercooler pipes,is it normal or is my intercooler about to spectacularly explode in a shower of sparks and smoke.

That is from the turbo and the crankcase ventilation system, is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

That will be the pipe to the intercooler, the metal barbs will have worn away and you will need a new pipe 1J0 145 834 AA at £51.32. This is very difficult to get at without raising the car up.

??? Is that normal on the 150 tdi too? My oily smoke problem seems to have cleared itself up, but Ive got a replacement £££ turbo awaiting fitting next week. I can sent it back to VW if a bit of oil in my intercooler is normal as the oil seals on my turbo may well be OK???

I have seen six month old 12K mile cars with oil dripping off the turbo connections; the Fabia VRS even has a hole in the lower liner at the intercooler lower connection to let the oil drip onto the floor.
