    Hi,

Got a 2003 a4 convertible 2.5 tdi manual, lovely car just a bit sluggish with 163bhp. Was wondering if any one on here has had one chipped and if it made much noticable difference?

    thanks

I was just recently on the verge of selling my car to get one of these and chipping was an option i'd looked at. Yes you can chip them and getting 190-200bhp is achievable with ease. The problem I decided upon is the monstrous torque you'd have and actually being able to get the power down. The 2.5 TDi cabriolet is a pretty heavy car with only fwd, with a lot of that weight at the front. This obviously helps traction in a straight line but taking a corner at speed would be a gamble if the traction control will hold on or you'd end up in a hedge!! I decided if I was going to get one of these i'd leave it as standard and appreciate the beauty of cabriolet cruising.

My A4 TDI 130 sport FWD was remapped by Revo in hayes, the torques are 295nm from 2000 revs!

2nd gear spins wheels in the dry, 3rd gear wheelspins with the slightest of damp in the air. think carefully........ i rekon your 2.5 could become a monster! Enjoyable though

I've got an A4 Avant TDi 130 and have been thinking about it too. I've read you can get the bhp up to around 190 and a similar increase in torque. Very quick.

I swapped my old mk3v golf for a 2.5tdi quattro this car orriginally had 180 now remapped to about 235bhp the car is rapid and yes has a huge amount of torque but I wouldn't consider it an animal the big V6 is so silky smooth. so get that cab remapped and get some wind in your hair .

The difference here though is your saloon has quattro 4-wheel drive whereas the cabriolet is only front wheel drive. The standard power is lower at 163bhp tuneable to 190bhp & 400nm torque easily enough but putting that power through the front wheels will keep the traction control far too busy to be driveable if you want to push it at all. I just dont think it needs it to be honest. Im all for chipping cars that can handle it well but I just dont believe the 2.5TDi Cabriolet would be improved by having it chipped.
