Hi People,

I recently had to call the AA out after driving home when my car suddenly lost power and started to judder when I accelerated. The car bearly went above 30 mph and didnt sound good.

The AA ran a full diagnostics but nothing flashed up, after spending some time doing a few tests he came to the conclusion the 3rd cylinder coil was damaged or worn and caused the engine to miss fire.

I took the AA's advice and took my car to a German specialists centre, they also ran a full diagnostics test and came to the same conlusion that it could well be the 3rd cylinder. They also informed me that the lamda sensor had flashed up causing a fault and could be causing trouble. I had all the cylinder packs changed as they advised me its best to change them all, I had all the spark plugs changed and the lamda sensor. After fitting all these parts the garage informed me that it was running better but it had not resolved the problem. The engine still seemed to be miss-fireing and stalling. Obviously I was not very pleased after paying for a dianostics test, parts, labour and then being told it was not fixed!

The mechanics worked on my car for a further 4 hrs (I was told) looking for a wireing fault in the engine but to no avail. The gargage then told me it must be the ECU that is damaged causing the miss -fire to the cylinders.

I am really at loss and wondering whether to take the garages advice or take it else where. Has anyone had a similar problem?

Would really appreciate your help!
