Hi im 17 years old and i want to buy a mk4 golf cos i think they are soo good looking. what type would be the best for me to get, i would like one with alloy wheels (nice ones not the 18 inch ones that come with the GTI i think they look really bad on the golf) and would a mk4 golf have a CD player built in, i know the mk5 does because my friend has one but i dont know about the mk4 cos its kinda old.

and any ideas what my insurance would be like on a mk4 golf, remember im only 17 and ill hopefully get a full uk licence next week

due to your age i think you are going to be paying high insurance what everone you go for, i would try and go for a 1.4 or a 1.6. untill you have got afew years no clames, then get a bit faster one if that is what you want, as for trim levels, your not going to be getting huge level of trim with the smaller engine, the 1.6 se has a good trim you might even get a/c with the later ones. i'm not sure if you alloys with them, but you can get OME ones from ebay if you want. hope this is of help.

ok, well on all platforms the front and rear anti roll bar bushes ware, you can get some bad gear boxs with some of the 1.6 but i can't remember what engine/gearbox code is affected, the hubs can warp all on all platforms, general reliablity is good, not as expencive to run as people make out, long as it come with a good service history. keep the oil changed every 4000miles or so.
