    Hello All

I have had a Est Highline now for about a month.

The car has some back pressure when taking filler cap off when running
and also smokes when the accelerator is blipped

The vehicle has a full documented VAG history and has done 87k.

My thoughts are its not wear on the bore or slipped rings as performance is good as is mpg and the low miles on the vehicle. After trawling through sites like this there seems to be a common link with the crankcase breather filter

I have a couple of questions for those in the "know"

1 ) Does the 130tdi have a CCB and is it easy to get at. is it a case of taking the
engine protector off and just stripping the hoses out?

2 ) If so does it form part of the manufacturers service and has to be changed
at intervals recommended by the Manufacturer, or is it as and when required.

    Many Thanks in advance

Hi there. I had the same problem with my v6 tdi. It turned out to be the PCV valve, which is the breather for the rocker covers. It was buried in the middle of the engine but a new one did the trick.

It is a bit young for any vent pipe problems but it is a very simple system. Follow the breather pipe along and check for problems. Has it had a cam belt recently?

    Crasher

Thanks I will strip off the canopy and track it. Is there a filter within the breather system

It had a belt the day before I picked it up. I had thought the timing could be out a little
as a result of the beltchange, but wouldnt it be coughing and spluttering if it was missing?

It may be worth having the timing checked if it wasn't done at a VW garage/specialist. Take the top belt cover off and look for paint marks used for alignment, if there are any it wasn't done correctly. The breather filter is in the cam cover, I can't imagine it having a problem there though or with rings. They do have quite a bit of back pressure if you remove the oil filer cap with the engine running.
